Dayton Metro Library announces annual poetry contest for 2023

DAYTON — Dayton Metro Library announced Friday it will start accepting submissions for its Annual Poetry Contest on February 13, according to a Dayton Metro Library spokesperson.

Adults and students who live in Montgomery and surrounding counties, Miami Greene, Warren and Preble counties may enter.

They are invited to enter the contest in one of five age categories:

  • Child- Grades 2-4
  • Child- Grades 4-6
  • Teen- Grades 7-12
  • Adults- ages 19-59
  • Older adults- ages 60+

Both written and spoken word entries will be accepted, the spokesperson.

Written poems should be no more than a page long and spoken word entries must be accompanied to a YouTube or Tik Tok video.

The contest will end March 17 at midnight.
