Medway fire causes $50K damage to home, garage

UPDATE @ 1:15 p.m.

The fire in a detached garage in Clark County may have started from a wood burning stove, Bethel Twp. Fire Chief Jacob King said.

The fire spread to a house, causing moderate damage to the outside, King said.

The detached garage will need to be repaired due to the damage on the inside and outside of the structure. King estimated a dollar loss at $50,000.

One woman and two cats were inside the home at the time. She and the pets were not injured.

INITIAL REPORT:

Crews are on scene of a garage fire on the 11000 block of Gerlaugh Road in Medway.

According to scanner traffic, crews were called to the fire around 6:10 a.m. Sunday.

The fire is under investigation, according to officials on scene.
