WATCH: Cats administered oxygen at scene of Clayton house fire

CLAYTON — One bird died and several pets were administered oxygen following a house fire in Clayton Wednesday morning.

The fire was reported in the 4300 block of Reeves Court around 11 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Crews said they found heavy smoke when they entered the front foor of the residence.

Battalion Chief Mike Seagraves said four cats and two guinea pigs were outside with the homeowner when fire crews arrived. Crews were able to administer oxygen to all the animals. A pet bird in the house did not survive.

Smoke detectors were going off when crews arrived.

No one was injured.
