Video from the scene shows flames and heavy smoke pouring from the building.

Brandon Barnett, Miami Valley Fire District Fire Chief, said the fire started in one unit and worked its way up through the attic.

“We had a lot of wind when we got here,” Barnett said. “The fire actually had a pretty good start on us, as I said, it was already extended out of the window, up into the eves and it was actually running into the attic when we got here.”

Everyone was out of the building by the time crews showed up and no injuries were reported, according to Barnett.

News Center 7 spoke with the property manager who said there are 12 units in the complex.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
