Cause of fire under investigation at West Alexandria duplex

WEST ALEXANDRIA, Preble County — UPDATE @ 2:50 p.m.:

Firefighters were able to contain a fire that broke out in the basement of a duplex on West Dayton Street in West Alexandra Monday afternoon.

The cause of the fire is unknown and will be investigated by the state fire marshal’s office, according to officials.

No injuries were reported.

FIRST REPORT

Firefighters have responded to reports of a house fire on West Dayton Street in West Alexandria Monday afternoon, according to initial reports.

Crews were dispatched to West Dayton Street just west of North Main Street around 1:20 p.m. and reported smoke coming from the house, according to emergency scanner traffic.

There have been no immediate reports of injuries.
