A local nonprofit group that provides school supplies to kids in need is expanding with a new facility.

“Crayons To Classrooms” Executive Director Steve Rubenstein said the group’s new free store for teachers has been several years in the making.

The facility on Woodman Drive in Dayton will replace an existing store and storage area that has served them well, but is too small.

“Markers. You can always use markers,” Rubenstein said, holding up some of the first donated items to arrive at the new facility. He hopes the store will be open within the next week.

The group takes donated items and allows teachers from participating districts to shop in the store at no charge.
