The Piqua post of Ohio State Highway Patrol was called to Interstate 75 southbound near the state Route 29/Sidney/St. Marys exit at around 5:20 a.m., according to initial emergency scanner traffic and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT).

Crews at the scene reported at least two vehicles crashed into the guard rail because of dangerous road conditions.

Troopers closed both southbound lanes to handle the crash, ODOT and News Center 7 viewers confirmed.

Authorities always recommend driving slowly and carefully during these conditions. The freezing overnight temperatures coupled with moisture on the roads may have created black ice, which remains a hazard for any motorist.

Dispatch for Piqua post of Ohio State Highway Patrol would not confirm or comment on the crash.
