The shooting death of Jonte Tinsley was featured today as a part of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office’s Cold Case Thursday social media campaign. Investigators are continuing to look for Jayden Kurrek, 16, who was earlier identified as a person of interest in the homicide.

Tinsley was shot and killed while at a Sweet 16 birthday party on Daleview Avenue in Harrison Twp. June 9.

Within a few days, deputies started to ask for information on Kurrek’s whereabouts, not calling him a suspect, but identifying him as a person of interest.

“The Sheriff’s Office has attempted to locate and speak with Kurrek about the death (of Tinsley), with no successful result,” Sheriff Rob Streck said in a media release Thursday.

No charges have been approved in the case against Kurrek. However he is listed as a missing juvenile and has an active warrant for his arrest for robbery where a gun was used, Streck said.

Kurrek is described as 5-feet 7-inches tall, 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

If you have information that can help investigators locate Kurrek, you’re asked to contact the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center at 937-225-4357 or Miami Valley Crime Stoppers at 937-225-7867.
