The annual Shred Day will take place May 19 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Vandalia Municipal Building at the 300 block of James Bohannan Memorial Drive, the city announced on social media.

It will be a drive-up event.

The city says it is a great opportunity to safely dispose of sensitive documents including old tax returns, processed checks, loan documents, financial reports, and papers that might include Social Security or financial account numbers.

There will be no need to remove any paper clips, staples, rubber bands, or folders, the city said. All paper collected will be recycled.

The event is free to all Vandalia residents.
