TROTWOOD — Several weeks after community members voiced concerns over the Trotwood Greyhound bus station, city officials say they are making progress on improving conditions for those who use Greyhound buses.

News Center 7′s Kayla Courvell spoke with Sara McGinnis, a woman who said she had been waiting at the Trotwood station for four hours for her bus. It was late and caused her to miss her connecting trip.

“I’ve had quite a few transfers o my trip because I came from Tennessee and this is the only time I’ve seen like this,” McGinnis said.

McGinnis noted that the station did not have a place for people to sit, a public restroom or a vending machine, but these were problems previously brought up by those who use Greyhound busses at this station.

News Center 7 previously reached out to Greyhound for comment. The company stated that Greyhound customers are welcome inside the Trotwood location and it is up to the preference of the customer where they would like to wait for the bus. There are restrooms located inside the stop and food within walking distance, Greyhound added.

Trotwood City Manager Quincy Pope told News Center 7 that city officials met with Greyhound Regional District representatives on Sept. 2 to discuss the concerns, which also include filling the potholes in the parking lot and staying open until 11 p.m.

“We talked with them about what community expectations are and house to be a good partner because these are concerns about property maintenance issues, debris management, lighting and the way customers are treated,” Pope said.

Pope said Greyhound officials were receptive to making changes, including paying workers overtime to help, but noted that things would not be fixed overnight because “modifications take a period of time to get the engineering done.”
