DAYTON — Some Dayton workers are back to wearing masks.
As Montgomery County increased to a high COVID-19 community transmission level, the city of Dayton, Five Rivers MetroParks and Public Health-Dayton & Montgomery County (PHDMC) has reinstated mask mandates for their employees.

In a notice sent to city employees on Dec. 28, city officials reinstated it’s mask mandate, requiring all city employees to wear a mask while at work while they are interacting with co-workers or the public.
Just days before, on Dec. 24, Five Rivers MetroParks chose to require employees to wear masks, according to a spokesperson. The last period employees there were required to wear masks was from July 18 to Sept. 10, 2022.
“Five Rivers MetroParks determines the requirement to wear masks based on the COVID-19 community spread levels provided by the CDC and Public Health -- Dayton & Montgomery County (PHDMC),” a spokesperson told News Center 7.
A spokesperson for PHDMC confirmed they were also requiring masks in its facilities.
All three employers cite Montgomery County’s COVID-19 high community level as the reason behind bringing back the mask mandates.
