Christmas Hope Box drive for homeless youth kick-off event held Nov. 16

Helping Hands for the Homeless is sponsoring a Christmas Hope Box drive from Nov. 16 to Dec. 16 to benefit the children and youth at Daybreak’s Youth Homeless Shelter, according to a release.

The kick-off events to sign up to sponsor a child/youth will be on Nov. 16 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Murphy’s Used Books, 2852 Wilmington Pike and from 5 to 7 p.m. at Handyman Ace Hardware, 1950 E. Stroop Road.

Community members are asked to sponsor one of the 80 homeless children/youth that’s staying at Daybreak, 605 S. Patterson Blvd., by putting together a shoe box full of supplies, read the release. Dayton Pediatric Dentistry will be donating all toothbrushes and toothpaste for the boxes.

After the kick-off event is over, people can still sign up to sponsor a child/youth on the Christmas Hope Box event Facebook page.

The donation box locations include Handyman Ace Hardware’s nine area stores, Murphy’s Used Books, and the Heartland skilled nursing facilities.
