Centerville woman killed in Van Wert County crash

A 76-year-old Centerville woman was killed Monday in York Twp., Van Wert County, when she went left of center and into the path of an oncoming semitrailer.

Carole Dunaway was headed north on U.S. 127, near Walnut Grove Church Road approximately six miles south of the city of Van Wert, when the accident occurred at about 12:20 p.m., according to the Ohio Highway Patrol's Van Wert Post.

The semi, a 2012 Freightliner, was driven by 69-year-old Ben Bernard of Zanesville. It and Dunaway's 2002 Buick collided head on, according to the patrol.

Dunaway died at the scene, according to the county coroner, and was taken to the Lucas County Coroner's Office.
