SPRING VALLEY TWP., Greene County — Two people were sent to area hospitals after a serious, head-on crash near Spring Valley in southern Greene County Friday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Centerville Road east of Penewit Road in Spring Valley Twp. around 8 a.m. after the crash was reported.
Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles after the crash, Spring Valley Twp. Fire Chief Rusty Cross told News Center 7. Crews from nearby departments also responded to the crash and helped rescue crews free both victims from the wreckage, Cross said.
One driver was freed quickly and taken to an area hospital. The second victim had their legs pinned inside the car, which required a longer extracation process, Cross said. The second driver was flown to an area hospital by CareFlight medical helicopter.
The conditions of both victims were not released.
Centerville Road is expected to be blocked for a portion of Friday morning for the crash investigation.
