UPDATE @ 3:45 p.m. (Sept. 20): Hours after a car hit a girl on a bike in Kettering, police officers who were dispatched to the crash got together to get her bike fixed and have reunited her with her "ride."
Officer Jon Jung, Kettering Police Department public information officer, said neither the driver or the girl will be cited in the crash — according to city law, a person must walk a bicycle through a crosswalk. The girl in riding in the crosswalk when the car hit her.
She suffered minor injuries and was released a short time after she was brought to a hospital, Jung said.
The officers contacted the Kettering Bike Shop and the folks there repaired it at no cost, according to a Facebook post to the department’s page.
FIRST REPORT (Sept. 20)
Kettering police said a young girl riding her bike was injured when she was hit by a car Tuesday morning.
Police and medics were dispatched around 7:35 a.m. to the intersection of Lincoln Park Boulevard and Ackerman Boulevard on a reported pedestrian strike.
Police said the girl was transported to an area hospital for treatment, but her condition was unknown.
Police did not say who was at fault in the crash.
Investigators cleared the scene around 8:05 a.m.
