UPDATE @ 1:45 p.m.

A group of golfers who heard a car crash into the pond at the Yankee Trace Golf Club today sprang into action.

The driver was standing in the pond, with water up to her knees, but her car was in the middle of the pond when they grabbed hold of the bumper and moved it closer to shore so it wouldn’t sink.

Although the course was busy, no golfers were in the way when the woman drove through the intersection at Social Row Road and Yankee Street, through a fence and into the pond at the Centerville city golf course. Washington Twp. medics got the woman out of the water and took her to Southview Medical Center.

Centerville police they were unsure whether the woman in her 30s had a medical condition or the accident was the result of impaired driving.

The car was still in the pond, and people were still able to golf this afternoon.
