Bomb squad responds to reports of ‘explosive device’ in Springfield Monday afternoon

The Dayton Bomb Squad responded to reports of an explosive device located at a Springfield apartment complex Monday afternoon.

Springfield Dispatch confirmed that police were originally called to Ronez Manor Apartments on the 1900 block of Wilkes Dr. for an unrelated call, and were later made aware of a possible “pipe bomb.”

The bomb squad worked to dispose of the device and make the scene safe, according to dispatch.
