Gift-wrapped package prompts bomb squad call; determined non-hazardous

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 10 a.m.: 

An unopened box, wrapped in wrapping paper prompted a response from the Dayton Police Bomb Squad Monday morning.

The package was determined to be empty, not hazardous, and was disposed.

Police were dispatched to the Island MetroPark on East Helena Street around 8:10 a.m. on reports of a suspicious package.

The Dayton Police Bomb Squad has responded to the Island MetroPark in Dayton after a suspicious package was found.

The incident was first reported around 8:10 a.m. but additional details were not available.
