Springfield Fire were dispatched to the Dollar General store on Sunset Avenue at 12:15 a.m. on reports of a structure fire, the city’s dispatch confirmed.

Firefighters forced their way into the business and found that nothing inside was burning or affected by the flames. Therefore, first responders concluded the fire was contained to the outside of the structure.

Although the fire was extinguished within the first hour of crews arriving at the scene, investigators were requested on suspicions of arson.

The Springfield Fire Department led the investigation into the fire.

It was unknown if there were any leads on suspects.
