Annual Feast of Giving at Dayton Convention Center canceled

DAYTON — The closure of the Dayton Convention Center for the remainder of 2020 has prompted organizers to cancel the annual Thanksgiving Feast of Giving event.

“Without a dining space for some 8,000 - 10,000 people, and the cooking operations of the Dayton Convention Center, the decision became straightforward. Our board considered a number of different alternatives and options yet the reality to effectively and safely feed so many people would be impossible," Feast of Giving co-chairs Steve Levitt and Tom Olson said in a joint statement.

The event was organized to provide a hot Thanksgiving meal to all in the Dayton area.

Before 2009, the Elder Beerman Family Foundation sponsored the event for 40 years.

Organizers are planning to bring the event back in 2021.
