Alter High School mourns student who died in New Year’s Day crash

WASHINGTON TWP. — The Alter High School community is mourning death of 15-year-old Taehee Kim who died on New Year’s Day in an accident.

According to the sheriff’s office, Taehee was going to get the mail near her Washington Township home Friday when she was hit by a pickup truck.

News Center 7′s Molly Koweek spoke with Alter’s principal Lourdes Lambert about the legacy Taehee is leaving behind.

The school said a prayer over the morning announcement Tuesday for her and the entire sophomore class gathered for a socially distanced prayer.

“Taehee was a quiet, beautiful soul. [She was a] very good student, very hard worker, and loyal friend,” said Lambert. “She had a lot of beautiful friends that miss her terribly and that are really hurting right now.”

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 8th at 10:00 AM at the Tobias Funeral Home, Belmont Chapel, and a funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM.
