Police officers were at the 700 block of W. Main Street at 7:45 p.m. when they observed a tan Hyundai traveling westbound at a high rate of speed, driving erratically, and passing vehicles in the no-passing areas, according to New Lebanon Police.

They attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver failed to comply. It was briefly pursued but officers discontinued it just west of the village limits due to “the operator’s disregard for public safety,” New Lebanon Police said.

Officers saw the car leave the roadway which resulted in a crash in the 14000 block of Dayton Eaton Pike, according to scanner traffic.

Two people were detained. Medics transported them to the hospital with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation and all charges will be filed in the coming days with the Montgomery County Pleas Court.

Impairment is believed to be suspected in the crash.
