2 in custody after stolen vehicle crashes during pursuit in northern Montgomery County

HUBER HEIGHTS — A male and female are in custody after a vehicle that was reported stolen crashed while Huber Heights police were chasing it, Huber Heights Police said.

An officer on patrol in Huber Heights spotted the vehicle and began pursuing it on I-70 after discovering it had been reported stolen in an earlier armed robbery in Harrison Twp., said Sgt. Brian Carr with Huber Heights Police.

“The information provided stated the vehicle had been taken at gunpoint,” Carr said.

The pursuit started on the westbound side of I-70 and continued north on Airport Access Road and then onto U.S. 40 east into the city of Vandalia.

The vehicle continued to flee from officers south onto Dixie Drive into Butler and Harrison townships before going onto Needmore Road and crashing in the area of Needmore and Payne Avenue near I-75, Carr said.

Details about the two people in custody were not immediately available and there were no injuries from the pursuit or crash.
