‘Jungle Jack’ Hanna to retire from Columbus Zoo after 42 years

Jungle Jack Hanna will retire from the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, the zoo announced Thursday morning.

His last day will be the last day of the year, Dec. 31, 2020, according to the zoo’s website.

“Hanna has called the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium home since 1978, serving tirelessly as both director and director emeritus over his 42 years in Central Ohio.”

The Columbus Zoo has been closed for the pandemic, but reopens Friday, June 12.
