ENON — By purchasing a bottle of wine, you could help someone else out.
When two Clark County deputies, Suzanne Hopper and Matthew Yates, lost their lives in the line of duty, Kelly Brandeberry, owner of Brandeberry Winery, knew she needed to help ensure that no other officer lost their life.

The late Jim Brandeberry opened the winery in 2009 and wanted a business that helped others and passed that passion onto his daughter, Kelly Brandeberry. “We’ve raised money for a diabetic assistant dog, for honor flight for veterans, we’ve done one for breast cancer,” said Brandeberry
After losing two deputies while on duty, Brandeberry began selling ‘Hero in Blue’ with the label featuring silhouettes of both Hopper and Yates to honor their sacrifice. The winery sold out of the wine within a week, allowing the winery to donate more than $13,000 to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
“Record-breaking for us. Most we had sold at one of our other events was maybe 60 cases; this was about 97 cases”, said Brandeberry.
The sheriff’s office was able to buy body shields to protect current and future deputies. “We’re all super happy that we were able to help them for these guys and women that are just true heroes everyday”, said Brandeberry.
Although “Hero in Blue” is not currently for sale, it will be back this summer.
