Fairborn enforcing tall grass, weeds violations

The city of Fairborn’s code enforcement officers are addressing properties with tall grass and weeds that have exceeded the allowed height.

Fairborn’s Codified Ordinances state that grass is considered a weed once it reaches eight or more inches. If a property has grass or weeds exceeding this, then the property owner will be sent an Order to Correct Notice giving them five days to mow the grass or trim the weeds.

If the owner does not comply and correct the problem within the five allotted days from the date issued on the warning, then the city mows/cuts the weeds and bills the owner. Any unpaid fees are assessed against the property.

This ordinance applies to all Fairborn property owners — residential and commercial. Enforcement continues through November.

To assist with any lawn maintenance needs, Fairborn also runs a Tool Lending Closet for income eligible residents.

The Tool Lending Closet currently stocks lawn mowers, weed trimmers, lawn edgers, pruning lopper, hedge trimmers, rakes, shovels, leaf blowers and extension cords. The Tool Lending Closet is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Friday, by appointment only.
