DAYTON — Some people are still left with damaged homes after the Memorial Day Tornadoes more than a year ago and time to get help from the Miami Valley Long Term Recovery Operations Group is running out.

Jordan McCartney was one of the thousands of people whose home was damaged by a tornado and noticed many of her neighbors were forced to move because of it.

“Some of these people just had to leave their homes,” McCartney said. “Some didn’t have insurance and that had an impact on how their house was fixed.”

Now, there are only a few more weeks until the deadline to apply for assistance through the Miami Valley Long Term Recovery Operations Group is here.

Renters could qualify for $5,000 to put toward purchasing a home.

“If it’s available to you, do it,” McCartney said. “It can help you and maybe you can have your home back.”

The deadline to apply is August 1. Call United Way Greater Dayton 211
