CLAYTON — UPDATE @ 2 p.m.:
Police have deemed a threat at Northmont Middle and High schools not credible and have taken a student into custody, according to an updated statement from the district.

“At this time (police) have determined that it is not a credible threat and was the result of a poor decision by a student,” a district spokesperson said in an updated social media post.
The campus was initially placed on lockdown around noon while the threat was first investigated. Police later downgraded the status to shelter-in-place.
“We are extremely proud of how our students and staff quickly reacted and we’re thankful for our relationship with law enforcement and the quick response to make sure everyone stayed safe.”
Additional details were not released.

A police investigation into a threat at Northmont Middle and High schools continues, however police have downgraded the school to shelter-in-place, a district spokesperson said in a social media post.

FIRST REPORT:
Northmont Middle and High schools are on lockdown Thursday while police investigate a threat at the schools, according to messages sent by the district obtained by News Center 7.
A police investigation started at the school around noon. Messages sent to parents indicate a threat is being investigated and all students and staff members are safe.
Additional details about the threat were not immediately released.
Parents have been asked to stay away from the school buildings while the investigation is conducted, a district spokesperson said in the messages.
