Shawn Holmes, 39, was taken into custody Tuesday and is awaiting extradition back to Ohio, a Dayton police spokesperson said in a tweet.

Holmes had an active warrant for his arrest since September from the alleged attack in Dayton on Smithville Road Aug. 20.

According to an affidavit filed in Dayton Municipal Court, he victim reported the suspect grabbed her, “forcing her into the back seat of his vehicle,” and then “drove her to an unknown location refusing to let her out of the vehicle.”

The victim reported Holmes then “proceeded to get in the back seat with her,” “threatened to harm her.” The document said, “She told him to stop and he became more enraged until he finally took her back to the area where she was removed from.”

Dayton police investigators eventually identified Holmes as a suspect, and mentioned Holmes' possible connection to another alleged sexual assault and rape in another part of the Miami Valley, Lt. Jason Hall previously told News Center 7.

“Mr. Holmes is also wanted for questioning by the Butler Township Police Department for a similar sexual assault,” Hall said.
