Zaden McKnight search resumes on G. Miami River

The search continued Saturday morning for 4-year-old Zaden McKnight, who is presumed dead in the investigation into an unsolved homicide case.

Dayton police and fire personnel launched a search effort on the Great Miami River in the downtown Dayton area, utilizing water rescue rafts and a helicopter overhead to spot items that may be of interest in the investigation.

Police believe Zaden was murdered along with his mother, 25-year-old Nichelle McKnight, whose body was found near the banks of the Stillwater River on April 11.

On Thursday Dayton homicide detectives along with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Ohio Task Force One resumed the search on the Stillwater River.

About 100 vacant buildings were also searched in recent days in the zero to 100 block of Birchwood Avenue, near a home that investigators are considering as the possible murder scene.

Saturday morning officers were observed searching the banks of the Great Miami as well as areas in the water along Patterson Boulevard and Stewart Street bridge.

Police have not announced receiving any specific information on the possible location of Zaden's body.
