Xenia Police arrest man in counterfeit money case

UPDATE @ 10:57 a.m. (Sept. 29):

Xenia police have arrested a man suspected of passing counterfeit money at the Xenia Taco Bell and it comes after the city has received 11 formal reports of counterfeit money being used at local businesses.

According to police, Tysawn Grayson, was arrested on two counts of forgery after employees at the Taco Bell were able to give officers a detailed description of the suspect and his vehicle.

During the investigation police found Grayson to be in possession of several fake $20 bills after he was stopped a short time after allegedly passing the fake money at Taco Bell.

Grayson is currently in the Greene County Jail on a $2,500 bond and police are still asking businesses to remain vigilant.

Xenia police are issuing a warning after a handful of counterfeit money incidents were reported in the city.

Officers said the cases have been reported in the last few weeks and involve a variety of denominations of bills.

Burger King posted signs saying they are no longer accepting $50 or $100 bills, possibly because of the recent cases.
