A shooting late Wednesday afternoon left a woman shot in the neck and a man in custody.
The woman, whose name and age have not been released, was taken to Miami Valley Hospital and is expected to be OK, Dayton Lt. Mark Ponichtera said.
Martell Gray, 42, was in custody and later taken to the Montgomery County Jail following questioning about the shooting that occurred at a residence in the 400 block of Eleanor Avenue sometime after 5 p.m., the lieutenant said.
Investigators are characterizing the woman and Gray as acquaintances, Ponichtera said. He would not elaborate.
According to the jail website, Gray is being detained on charges of felonious assault, having weapons as a felon, drug possession, a misdemeanor contempt of court and 12 traffic-related charges.
He was booked into the facility just after 10 p.m. He's due in court for an initial appearance on Thursday afternoon.
A Dayton police Crime Scene Investigation unit remained on scene Wednesday night and investigators were trying to secure a search warrant for the house because suspected drug paraphernalia was found there, the officer said.
