Woman calls 911 to make boyfriend mad

A Dayton woman was arrested early Friday morning for reportedly filing a false report of a person shot.

Just before 1 a.m., Ashley Matthews, 25, called 911, told a dispatcher that a man shot his wife in the 200 block of Huron Avenue and hung up the phone, according to a police report. Officers responded to the address, which turned out to be the home of Matthews' boyfriend parents. No one had been shot at that location, police said.

The officers later learned that Matthews and her boyfriend had been having problems. So they tracked her down at her home on North Adler Street, and she reportedly admitted to making the call. She told police she filed the false report because she thought it would make her boyfriend mad, according to the police report.

Officers informed Matthews that there's been several false alarm calls to North Adler Street recently, and wondered if she was responsible for them. But she denied making those calls, claiming responsibility only for the one to Huron Avenue.

While searching Matthews before taking her into custody, officer found four cell phones and a crack pipe on her. She was charged with making false alarms and possession of drug paraphernalia, and booked in to the Montgomery County Jail.
