Woman accused in Steak ‘n Shake robbery

UPDATE @ 6:03 p.m.: A 37-year-old Dayton woman is being booked into jail on charges accusing her of robbery and other felonies stemming from the incident at the Steak 'n Shake in Butler Twp., police said in a prepared statement.

Jessalynn Mae Harness will be detained at the Montgomery County Jail, after she’s evaluated at a hospital, pending the filing of charges that include robbery and failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer. In the statement, Lt. Chris Guthrie said investigators will present their case to the county prosecutor’s office for review.

According to the police department, a white female armed with a stun gun gave an employee a note stating she would have them killed if they did not give her money. She left the restaurant, 6549 Miller Lane, in a black truck.

At 3:06 p.m., a police officer located the truck (described in a police broadcast) heading south on Miller Lane. A short pursuit was initiated, then canceled.

Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies pursued the truck a short time later and it crashed in Dayton, where the woman was apprehended.

UPDATE 3:32 p.m.: Officers have detained a woman following a crash at the intersection of Siebenthaler Avenue and Riverside Drive and the suspect may be connected to the reported robbery at Steak 'n Shake in Butler Twp., according to dispatch records.

Police were on the scene of the crash around 3:30 p.m.

Officers in Butler Twp. responded to a robbery at the Steak ‘n Shake, 6549 Miller Lane, this afternoon, records indicated.

Initial reports indicate the vehicle involved in the crash is an S-10 pickup truck and a stun gun was reportedly used in the robbery.
