Twin brothers charged for shotgun

A parolee and his twin brother are both facing charges after police found a shotgun in their vehicle during a traffic stop.

Officers found the shotgun, rounds and a bag of marijuana in the vehicle when they stopped it on Germantown Pike around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Richard Lowther, 46, was charged with having weapons under disability. He remains in Montgomery County Jail today. Lowther is currently on reporting probation for a prior felony drug conviction. He was also previously convicted of having weapons under disability, according to a police report.

Timothy Lowther, 46, was issued a summons for improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and a minor misdemeanor summons for possession of marijuana, according to the police report.

The brothers told police they were taking the shotgun to a relative's house.
