Troy man hit with new charge in OD death case

UPDATE @ 5:01 p.m. (Feb. 26): Adam Plantz, 34, of Troy, has been hit with a new charge in overdose death case involving his girlfriend.

The Miami County Sheriff’s Office on Friday filed a new charge of tampering with evidence.

Plantz is accused of hiding the needle used to administer an illegal narcotic that ultimately caused the death of 21-year-old Rachel Celia, of West Milton, the weekend of Feb. 20. Autopsy results are pending.

FIRST REPORT (Feb. 23)

A Troy area man pleaded not guilty this morning on charges of possession of drugs and drug abuse instruments.

Bond was set at $6,000 cash for 34-year-old Adam Plantz in Miami County Municipal Court.

Plantz was jailed early Saturday morning after deputies were called to Plantz’s home south of Troy to investigate the death of a 21-year-old woman in his home.

Detectives suspect the death is the result of a drug overdose, but they are awaiting autopsy results.
