2 troopers injured in pursuit on I-75 in Montgomery Co.

Two state troopers were injured attempting to end a pursuit that was approaching stopped traffic on northbound I-75 in West Carrollton.

Dispatchers from the Lebanon Post of the Ohio Stage Highway Patrol said troopers initiated a pursuit after a vehicle that was reported stolen failed to stop on northbound I-75 near Austin Boulevard around 3:25 a.m. Saturday

The pursuit continued northbound at a high-rate of speed, as they approached the Miamisburg Centerville Road exit. About ten minutes prior, the all lanes of northbound I-75 were shut down due to a deputy-involved crash at the East Dixie Drive exit in West Carrollton.

The driver of the stolen vehicle fled the scene on foot across the northbound lanes of I-75 towards West Carrollton High School. Several jurisdictions from Montgomery County, some already in the area due to the crash, assisted in searching for the man.

Troopers said as the vehicle approached the stopped traffic caused by the crash, the vehicle started to drive into the median, before being hit by two cruisers, and came to a stop.

The search was called off around 5 a.m. with the suspect still on the loose.

A passenger inside the stolen car, did not flee and was arrested at the scene. Troopers did not say what potential charges that person might face.

Investigators said two troopers were injured attempting to box-in the vehicle as it approached the stopped traffic. The injuries were believed to be minor, and both cruisers required to be towed from the scene.

The highway remained shut down until around 5:20 a.m. when the investigation of both the deputy-involved crash and the pursuit were finished.
