UPDATE @ 4:45 p.m. (Oct. 29)
Springfield police Chief Stephen Moody said a suspect barricaded inside a Super 8 motel room is a “person of interest” in a double homicide.
Two men were found shot to death inside a car Wednesday evening on Pumphouse Road in Springfield. The victims were identified as Bryant Lawson and Titus Ford.
Lawson’s sister, Christy Williams, is among a crowd of the victims’ family and friends standing outside the Super 8 motel where a police standoff is underway.
“My brother was a good person,” Williams said. “No matter what he did, he didn’t deserve to die. … The violence needs to stop because of petty stuff.”
Williams said she just wants the man in the motel room to come out.
“We’re staying here until he gets out,” she said.
