Shooting near WSU campus may be gang related

UPDATE @ 1:25 p.m. (Nov. 24):

Officers said the shooting at the University Suites apartment complex may be gang related.

Police said a 22-year-old man from Trotwood suffered a gunshot wound suffered at the University Suites apartment complex and was driven by friends to Miami Valley Hospital.

The victim was treated and released from the hospital for injuries that were not life threatening.

According to police, a verbal dispute at a party in the complex led to a crowd being sent outside where an altercation broke out as people were leaving the parking lot and gunfire erupted.

The incident may stem from a prior dispute between two groups from a few weeks ago and the same groups also were suspected in being involved in a disturbance late Friday-early Saturday where shots were fired in Montgomery County.
