Shelby County OVI checkpoint results released

SIDNEY — A total of 307 vehicles passed through an OVI checkpoint conducted on State route 47 near Lester Avenue Friday evening, the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Sidney Police Department said.

No arrests were made.

In addition to the checkpoint, a saturation patrol was conducted in the area from 8 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. on Saturday. A total of 27 traffic contacts were made with one arrest for impaired driving.

“At the end of the evening, our ultimate goal is just to educate motorists to do the right thing and make other arrangements if they are going to consume alcohol,” OSP Lt. Joseph Gebhart said. “There is no place for impaired driving on our roadways and the public supports the efforts of these men and women out here tonight making their community safer.”
