A security guard working a wedding reception tonight was caught hiding in the trunk of a security vehicle after he made off with all the cash and gift cards.
The theft was reported just before 11 p.m. at Antioch College’s historic Birch House in the 700 block of South Jacoby Road near Yellow Springs.
The suspect took $225 in cash and gift cards of an unknown amount before fleeing, said Deputy Scott Phillips of the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
“We did locate the subject hiding in the trunk of the Antioch security vehicle,” Phillips said. “We did recover all of the gift cards that were stolen and he was arrested on the theft.”
The suspect, identified as Keagen Phillips, was wearing a yellow security uniform shirt. He was found within four or five minutes of a deputy’s arrival, Phillips said.
He was booked into the Greene County Jail on suspicion of theft but was since released, online jail records show.
