Rooftop thieves strike at bowling alley

It was apparently a strike for thieves that targeted a local bowling alley.

Just before 4 p.m. Friday, Dayton police were called to Poelking Lanes on Wilmington Avenue on theft reports.

The business owner told officers evidence was found on the roof during a routine inspection.

Contracting workers were checking the building's roof for leaks when they noticed several air conditioning units had been damaged and copper piping was removed from them, according to a Dayton Police Department report.

It's unknown when the crime took place but there was also evidence someone had tried to enter the building through an air duct.

No arrests have been made.
