A 17-year-old is charged with reckless homicide and receiving stolen property in connection to the shooting death Friday night of Noah Channell inside a Parran Drive house in Kettering.
The teen was identified as Noah Channell by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

A 17-year-old Kettering boy who was shot in a Parran Drive house has died.
EARLIER REPORT (Dec. 13)
A 17-year-old was shot Friday evening with a handgun inside a Parran Drive house, and Kettering police said they are trying to get to the bottom of what happened.
The teen, who was not named, was taken to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, where his condition is unknown.
Detectives on Friday night were awaiting a search warrant as part of their investigation into the shooting reported around 6:15 p.m. on Parran Drive, between Forrer Boulevard and Wren Circle.
Police initially said the shooting was accidental, but later Joe Ferrell, the department’s public information officer, walked back that statement and said it was too early to make a ruling.

“We are currently right now trying to piece through all the information from whoever may have witnessed it and find out what that true story is,” Ferrell said.
There were a few other people the same age as the gunshot victim inside the home at the time of the shooting, he said.
There is not believed to be an underlying crime related to the shooting, such as a burglary or home invasion, Ferrell said. However, “we still have a long way to go before we figure out what the true story is.”
Police said no further information was going to be released Friday night about the investigation.
