A traffic stop led to the discovery of a mobile meth lab and the arrest of three men and a woman, who remain in the Middletown City Jail on drug charges.
Middletown police, in information released late Wednesday night, said the four were in a Mercedes stopped by a police detective Wednesday on Manchester Avenue at Leibee Street.
The detective who made the stop found an "active one pot methamphetamine lab" in the back seat. The police division did not offer any details as to what led the detective to stop the vehicle when she did.
The Middletown Special Operations Unit was dispatched to dismantle the meth lab. Police did not say what time the traffic stop and subsequent arrests occurred.
The names of the four arrested and the charges are:
- David Dietz: Charged with felony permitting drug abuse, misdemeanor possession of drug abuse instruments, minor traffic violations.
- Christiane Fields: Detained on two warrants. Police did not release details of the warrants.
- Richard Gilbert: felony illegal manufacturing of meth, felony illegal assembly of chemicals used to make meth, misdemeanor possession of drug abuse instruments, and several unspecified warrants.
- Robert Wilson: Misdemeanor possession of drug instruments, and an unspecified warrant.
The ages and addresses of the four were not immediately available.
