Man in prison in OD death case indicted on drug charge in Montgomery County

DAYTON — A 49-year-old man serving a prison sentence in connection to a Dayton man’s overdose death last year was indicted Christmas Eve on an unrelated drug charge.

Virgil M. Corbin, of Dayton, is charged with cocaine possession stemming from a May 20, 2017, incident in Miami Twp., according to a Montgomery County grand jury report.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 8, court records show.

Corbin is incarcerated in the Pickaway Correctional Institution, just outside Orient, Ohio. He has been there since July 7, serving a 1½-year prison sentence on a felony tampering with evidence conviction in Miami County.

He admitted that on Jan. 29, 2017, he left Terry E. Sims, 59, of Dayton, at the entrance to Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy. Sims was pronounced dead at the hospital, and died of a drug overdose, according to the Miami County coroner.
