UPDATE @ 1 p.m. (Nov. 27): A woman stabbed in the head with a screwdriver is no longer a patient at Miami Valley Hospital.

Cindy Yung, 60, was taken to Miami Valley Hospital on Wednesday after she was stabbed by her son. She had multiple puncture wounds and police indicated her injuries were non-life threatening. She was no longer listed as a patient Thursday morning, according to hospital staff.

Dayton police are still looking for 37-year-old Jason McInturff, suspected of stabbing Yung and then attempting to dig a grave for her in the backyard of their home in the 4400 block of Corinth Boulevard.

According to a police incident report, an officer arrived at the home around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday after dispatchers received a 911 hang-up call from that address. No one answered the door when he knocked, but the officer saw McInturff standing next to the garage in the backyard holding a shovel.

The officer asked if everything was OK and why there was a 911 call there. McInturff said he had no idea why. He also reportedly told the officer there was also no one else in the house.

When the officer walked back to the front, he said he saw Yung on the sidewalk, bleeding profusely from her head. He ran over and grabbed her, fearing she would collapse. While holding her, Yung told the officer, “Help me. My son just tried to kill me,” according to the police report.

After calling for a medic and placing Yung in the back of his cruiser, the officer said he looked for McInturff in the backyard but he was gone. Other responding officers saw McInturff in the backyard of a home on Hearthstone and ordered him to the ground, but McInturff took off on foot and police were unable to locate him.

Moments later, Riverside police advised they had a Chevy Cavalier stolen nearby on Kolmar, which officers believed may have been taken by McInturff, according to the report.

The stolen vehicle was located by officers at 43 Burlington Ave. on Wednesday afternoon. Officers searched the area after witnesses reported seeing McInturff at Pat’s Lido Bar on Springfield Street around 4 p.m. Police checked out a tip early Thursday that the man might be in a vacant home on the city’s east side, but they were not able to locate him.
