The man accused of stabbing his mother to death last June will spend the rest of his life in prison.
Jamie Tuck, 44, of Dayton, pleaded guilty to aggravated murder while committing kidnapping, aggravated murder with prior calculation and design, kidnapping, felonious assault and aggravated robbery on April 1. Tuck had previously pleaded not guilty in the case.
“The loss of my mom has been tremendous, especially the way that it happened. It’s been very difficult for our entire family,” said Michelle Russo, Tuck’s sister, during an impact statement.
He was sentenced in court this morning to life in prison.
Tuck murdered his mother, Marilyn Burns, 66, and left her body in the basement of her home on Gunckel Avenue, according to prosecutors.
Police responded to Burns’ home on June 9, 2015, after a family member went to check on her after the Oakwood Library reported that the 66-year-old had not shown up to work. Officers discovered her body brutally stabbed and cut, prosecutors said.
At the time of the killing, Tuck was on community control after he was convicted for kidnapping and attempting to murder his girlfriend in Franklin County in 2002. He had been sentenced to 11 years in prison in that case, but was released early by the judge.
Tuck had been scheduled to be released from jail in November 2015 for the Franklin County case.
Sentencing in the most recent murder case is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.
