Dayton man indicted, accused of shooting another man in the chest

A 41-year-old Dayton man is accused of shooting another man in the chest last month before fleeing in a pickup truck.

Walter L. Berry was indicted Wednesday on two counts of felonious assault, both with three-year firearm specifications, according to a Montgomery County grand jury report.

Police and medics were called around 2 p.m. April 20 for a gunshot victim in the 2100 block of Kipling Drive in Dayton. The victim is expected to recover.

Berry is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday. He remains in the Montgomery County Jail, where he’s been held since his May 8 arrest by Dayton police.
