UPDATE @ 3:35 p.m. Feb. 18, 2015:
A Brookville firefighter and EMT convicted today on charges stemming from a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl also is ordered to resign his job.
Joshua P. Rawlins, 26, was found guilty of abduction and sexual imposition, Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. announced.
Rawlins, who remained on administrative leave from his job, had inappropriate relations with the girl on multiple occasions, including while on duty, according to the prosecutor.
Rawlins will be sentenced March 18.
As part of his conviction, he will be designated a Tier I sexual offender, meaning he will be required to register his address annually for 15 years with his local sheriff's office.
Rawlins also was ordered to resign his job, have no contact with the victim or the fire department, and to not serve as a firefighter or EMT with any other department, according to the prosecutor's office.
"We are glad that this defendant will now be held accountable," Brookville police Chief Doug Jerome stated. "This has been a trying time for the Brookville Fire Department as well as the victim and the community. I feel this is a fair resolution to all parties involved."
In addition, Heck stated Rawlins' actions should not reflect on the dedicated men and women of the Brookville Fire Department.
