UPDATE @ 6:20 p.m. (Jan. 22): Bond is $500,000 for a man accused of shooting a 71-year-old man during a Wednesday night robbery in the area of the 3600 block of North Dixie Drive.
Marcus Miller, 24, is charged with felonious assault, aggravated robbery, kidnapping and having weapons as a felon, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.
Miller was arrested and booked at 5 p.m. Thursday into the Montgomery County Jail. He is to appear in court Monday, online jail records show.
UPDATE @ 3:35 a.m. (Jan. 21):
A shooting victim was parked in the North Plaza Shopping Center in the 3800 block of North Dixie Drive when he was robbed and shot Wednesday evening, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim, a 71-year-old male, was sitting in his vehicle when he was approached by a male who displayed a handgun and forced the victim to drive him to an ATM, where cash was obtained, according to the sheriff’s office.
There was then a struggle over the handgun, causing it to discharge and strike the victim. The suspect fled on foot.
The victim as taken to Miami Valley Hospital suffering from injuries not considered to be life threatening.
UPDATE @ 8:59 p.m. (Jan. 20):
The victim in the shooting in the 5200 block of North Dixie Drive appears to be an older man. He has been taken by medic unit to a hospital.
There are Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies and Butler Twp. police on scene and they are focusing on a small four-door sedan that is in the restaurant’s parking lot. The driver’s door has been left open.
A K-9 unit has been brought to the scene as well.
FIRST REPORT
Deputies and a medic unit have been dispatched to George’s Family Restaurant, on North Dixie Drive, on a report of a shooting.
We’re hearing there is one victim at the location, in the 5200 block of North Dixie. The dispatch went out at 8:45 p.m.
